Bamm Bamm Vinyl Album

$45.00

Bamm Bamm were Makoe Seawright on drums/vocals and Didier Leplae on guitar. The Milwaukee duo were known in the late 1990s and early 2000s for their trancey dance music.

Playing at clubs, private parties, street festivals and performance spaces around Milwaukee, their music was the result of a singular vision. Influenced by Harry Partch, Led Zeppelin, Snake Finger, Bootsy Collins, Oum Kalthoum, and Public Enemy, they developed their songs by practicing in Leplae’s basement and Seawright’s attic sometimes in stifling heat for up to 9 hours. Their sound was the result of Leplae playing a quarter tone guitar through Digitech whammy pedals while Seawright played a combination of acoustic and electronic drums.

Bamm Bamm extended its vision through images and objects. The band’s pickup truck was covered with paintings by Seawright, who also painted his drum kit, which took the appearance of a sculpture with its various custom cymbals and drums. For their energetic live shows the band was often accompanied onstage by projected videos and spinning motorized wooden sculptures.

This double vinyl album is a reissue of Bamm Bamm’s self-titled 2003 CD and includes studio recordings of some of their best known songs including Compilement, Corpus Collosum, Freaky Swirl, Creatures From Mars, Texas Oil and Military Mobsters.

A digital download code is included in the purchase plus a double-sided photo insert which contextualizes the music with collected artifacts including artwork, news clippings, fan poetry, and photos from live shows. This reissue further asserts the significance of this band as a complex and brilliant artwork.
